Postcards for Zambia

When Debbie Dubrow, Michelle Duffy, and Beth Whitman learned that they would be going to Zambia to visit the Room to Read library at the Chilileka Basic School, which was one of the two libraries all of the Passports With Purpose bloggers, sponsors, and friends helped raise money to build in 2011, they knew they wanted to bring something tangible to leave behind. And what made more sense for a library built with funds raised by the travel community than a book of postcards?

Since the trip (which was paid for by this year’s platinum sponsor Expedia.com®) was planned and executed very quickly, there wasn’t much time, but true to form, the community stepped up and sent postcards from all over.

There were greetings from Chicago, an aloha from Kauai, and even a hello from that most American of icons, Route 66:Room to Read Chicago postcard

You can see the entire collection of postcards, including the messages of goodwill sent from around the United States and the world, at the Passports With Purpose Facebook page.

We hope that after our 2012 fundraiser for Water.org has successfully resulted in two new wells in Haiti that we’ll also be able to visit and see the results – maybe bringing along postcards of each blogger’s favorite body of water. But first, we need your help. Learn more about what you can do to help us raise $100,000 for Water.org.
