Things are starting to get busy at the virtual Passports with Purpose HQ: As August flies by we’re staffed up our team for 2013, we’re busy talking to sponsors (look for exciting updates on that front soon!), and in the background we’re tweaking and improving our website for a flawless 2013 online event.
As we head into the next few months of really gearing up for our fundraiser, which starts on November 25, we thought this would be a great time to introduce the PwP 2013 team. First off there’s our board:
Michelle – Original PwP co-founder who’s still enjoying fiddling with our technology and making all the magic happen
Mara – Project manager and blog post writer extraordinaire
Meg – Who’s been with PwP since 2009 as our ever-fantastic PR person and this year is also leading our sponsorship efforts.
Then we have our newest volunteers; their invaluable help is ensuring that our fundraiser will be the same stellar success it’s been for the past five years:
Katie Aune of KatieAune.com brings her lawyer’s eye to our contracts, is our main charity liaison, and is helping bring new sponsors on board
Sandra Foyt of Albany Kid will be the go-to person for bloggers this year – look for email from her about getting on top of those prizes soon
We also our thrilled to have the help of Megan Perkins, our volunteer admin extraordinaire. She is busily cleaning up our forms and website and making sure that every blogger who has signed up is listed.
Passports with Purpose is and has always been a community fundraiser. We wouldn’t have build that school in Cambodia, that village in India, those libraries in Zambia or those wells in Haiti without the support of committed travel bloggers who sign up every year to procure and host a prize. Just as important is the extended travel blogging community who write and spread the word about our organization and our fundraiser.
We look forward to welcoming you all again in 2013 and continuing to see our community grow.
It’s the power of this community that has enabled PwP to continue and grow even as we’ve said farewell to Debbie, Pam and Beth, our excellent co-founders. As the 2013 organizing team our goal is for Passports with Purpose to endure as the annual travel bloggers’ community fundraiser and to stay true to the original founders’ values of volunteerism, community, independence, and ethical giving.
So, how can you help? We’re glad you asked. See the links below to sign up, donate a prize, or give money. Summer’s nearly over – it’s time for our fall work to begin.
