Norwegian jewelry is known for its enamel work and this vintage brooch is a wonderful example of enamel jewelry that was being produced in Norway in the mid-20th century. The brooch is constructed of gilt sterling silver and the silver is textured beneath the clear yellow enamel in a ribbed pattern that catches the light. The design is somewhat abstract, calling to mind both waves and leaves.
The brooch is quite large at 1-3/4″ diameter and that, combined with its bright yellow enamel, gives it a lot of impact.
