QWhat are the deadlines for the 2013 fundraiser?
A

November 6: Submit prize and for blogger’s prize sponsor to complete the prize procurement form.
November 23: Submit link(s) to PwP blog post to the PwP catalog form.
November 25, 11:59PM (EST): Blogger posts go live! PwP open for donations!
December 9, 11:59PM (EST): Donations for prizes close. Note: We’ll still take donations, but no more drawing entries.
December 16: Prize winners and host bloggers are notified via email.

 

Q. Is Passports with Purpose a non-profit?
A. We are a 501(c)3 organization and our  beneficiaries are as well.

Q. Where does the money go once I make a donation?
A. Your donation is made directly to the annual beneficiary, which is a 501(c)3 charity. Donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.

Q. Do all funds go directly to the charity?
A. With the exception of a very small percentage of PayPal fees and costs for printing, web hosting and newsletter communication, everything goes directly to the charity. This is a completely volunteer organization.

Q. Does anyone at Passports with Purpose get paid?
A. Nope. Everyone is a volunteer who is interested in helping out those less fortunate. No one is paid for their work with PwP.

Q. How do I know if my friend/mom/reader has donated to PwP?
A. To respect the privacy of our donors, we have kept this information hidden. You might simply remind them to donate if they haven’t already.

Q. How do I know which items have the highest (or lowest) number of bids?
A. You won’t know exactly. But, we do publish a list of “best odds” prizes each year.

Q. My company matches gifts – do you accept matching money for my donation?
A. Of course! If you work for a company that matches charitable contributions, you can request a form from your company to match your donation to the annual fundraiser.

Q. Does PwP purchase prizes for the fundraiser?
A. Nope! All prizes are donated either by the company/manufacturer or by the blogger who is sponsoring/promoting that particular item.

Q. How do I become a sponsor for Passports with Purpose?
A. Check out our Sponsorship Page for information about rates and sponsorship packages. Your donation goes directly to the annual beneficiary and is tax deductible to the extent of the law.

Q. How does PwP choose which non-profit to fund?
A. We do a lot of research to find projects that create long term sustainable improvement. We also look for causes that we believe a broad number of travel bloggers, travelers and travel companies would like to support. More information is here.

Q. Each donated prize needs to have a completed prize procurement form. Who needs to fill out the prize procurement form?
A. If the prize was donated by a company for the PwP fundraiser, they need to fill out the form. If you are donating the prize, or have the prize donated by a company in your possession, consider yourself the prize sponsor and you are responsible for filling out the form.

QCan my prize be from anywhere?
A
Yes, your prize can be from anywhere, as long as it’s made very clear that the prize sponsor is willing to ship anywhere.

QHow are winners chosen?
A
 Winners will be selected in a random drawing from among all eligible entries received on or before the entry deadline. Prize winners will be notified by telephone, email or mail by PwP and the host blogger.

QI submitted my prize entries and donated through PayPal, how do I know I’m entered in the drawing? 
A.
Once your payment is confirmed through PayPal, you will receive an email confirming your donation.

Q. I hosted a prize, but did not receive an email with the prize winner’s information. How do I know who to send the prize to?
A.  
Prize winners and host bloggers were notified at the same time. If you did not receive an email after the prize drawing (December 16, 2013) and you have checked your spam/junk inbox, please contact us.

Q. Can I procure and promote more than one prize?
A.
Yes! Each prize will still need to have a prize procurement form filled out and a separate blog post dedicated to each prize.

Q. How can I make a donation if I don’t want to choose a prize?
A.
Donations are accepted via PayPal, or through check, made payable to Passports with Purpose. Mail checks to Passports with Purpose, P.O. Box 31023 Seattle WA 98103

QWhat kind of exposure does a prize or prize sponsor receive?
A
The blogger is responsible for promoting their prize. PwP does include each prize in our prize “catalog” and all prize donors are mentioned on the website. We sometimes get media coverage and specific prizes are mentioned as part of that, but we can not guarantee that they will be included.
